Description

Clear glass and polished chrome give this a bright, open look, the glass passing on light from the three G9 lamps rather than holding it in. At around 52cm across it covers a generous width of ceiling while sitting close to it, so nothing hangs down into the room. We like the way the chrome reads as a hard, reflective edge against all that clear glass, and how little it darkens a pale ceiling when the lamps are off.

This is the sort of light we reach for in a hallway, on a landing, or in a bedroom where a pendant would be in the way, and it earns its place over a dining table in a room with a lower ceiling. The lamps sit apart across the width, so you get an even spread rather than one bright pool underneath. Dimming is possible with dimmable lamps fitted and a dimmer bought separately, so you can run it low through the evening and bring it up when you need proper working light.

The glass is clear throughout and the metalwork is finished in polished chrome, which holds its shine with very little asked of it. Dust the glass with a soft cloth to keep it clear, and if fingermarks reach the chrome, a barely damp cloth followed by a dry buff will see them off, with the power off and the lamps cold before you start. The G9 sockets suit LED capsules, which is what we would put in. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same fitting in antique brass, and in a five light version in both finishes, with matching table lamps, floor lamps and wall lights running through the range. Lamps are not included.

What size lamps does it take?

It takes three G9 capsule lamps, each rated up to 10W. LED capsules are the sensible choice and are the ones we would fit.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable G9 lamps. A dimmer switch is not supplied with the fitting.

How should I clean the glass?

Switch off at the wall and let everything cool, then wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth. For anything stubborn, use a cloth wrung out well and dry immediately afterwards.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means dry rooms only, so keep it to hallways, bedrooms, dining rooms and living spaces.

Does it come in another finish?

Yes, the same fitting is made in antique brass with clear glass, and there is a five light version in both chrome and brass.
