Description
The Elderford is a two light flush ceiling light with a rounded Tiffany-style shade in multicoloured leaded glass, 400mm across and projecting 190mm from the ceiling. The curve of the shade means colour shows from the side as well as underneath, which gives it more presence than a flat panel of the same width. It takes two 60W E27 GLS bulbs, supplied separately, and it is dimmable when paired with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer. The fitting weighs 2.6kg.
A 400mm shade at this projection suits landings, hallways, bedrooms, home offices and any room where the ceiling sits under about 2.4 metres and a pendant would hang in the way. It is often the answer in cottages, converted lofts and upstairs rooms with sloping walls. Because the light is close to the ceiling, it lifts the whole space evenly rather than pooling on a table, so pair it with a lamp or two if you read in the room. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor use.
Each piece of glass is leaded and soldered on its own, so the colour balance and the seam lines vary slightly from one shade to the next. The frame and mounting plate are metal and the shade releases for bulb changes. It is Class 1, so an earth connection is needed, and we would have a qualified electrician install it. Dust with a dry, soft cloth and use a barely damp cloth for fingerprints, keeping sprays off the solder. A matching Elderford inverted pendant is available for rooms with more height to play with.

Frequently Asked
What are the dimensions?
The shade is 400mm in diameter and the fitting projects 190mm from the ceiling. It weighs 2.6kg.
Will it work on a low ceiling?
Yes. At 190mm deep it is a flush ceiling light, sometimes listed as semi-flush, and it keeps headroom clear where a pendant would not.
What is the glass?
Coloured glass cut into panels, leaded and soldered into a metal frame using the Tiffany-style method.
Which bulbs are needed?
Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs, supplied separately. Choose dimmable bulbs if you plan to run it from a dimmer.
How do I clean it?
A dry, soft cloth for dust, and a barely damp cloth for marks. Avoid glass sprays, polishes and abrasives near the solder lines.
Can I use it in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20, so keep it to dry indoor rooms such as bedrooms, landings and hallways.
