Description

The Edge-2 is a 260mm pendant light built from layered birch plywood slats that form a bulbous shade around a central E27 lampholder. The slats are laser-cut and assembled into a stack that creates gaps between each layer, allowing light to escape horizontally through the shade while the bulb itself remains concealed from direct view. A cylindrical birch collar extends upward from the top of the shade to the black fabric suspension cable.

Designed for installation over kitchen islands, dining tables, and side tables where ambient downlight is needed without glare, the Edge-2 works as a single pendant or in clusters of two or three spaced 600-800mm apart along a longer surface. The 2000mm cable allows the pendant to be shortened during fitting to suit ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.5m, with typical drop placing the base of the shade 700-900mm above a worktop or table. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor spaces.

The natural birch finish shows wood grain variation across the slats, with tonal shifts from pale cream through to light tan depending on the section of timber each layer was cut from. The layered construction gives the shade a ribbed texture when viewed from the side, with the gaps between slats creating horizontal light bands when the bulb is lit. The 260mm diameter suits rooms up to 15m² without the pendant appearing oversized, and the natural wood pairs with Scandinavian, mid-century and contemporary interiors that favour untreated timber and neutral tones.
