Description

The Edge-1 is a 200mm wood pendant light built from vertical slats arranged in a bell-shaped cage, finished in natural brown timber. A single E27 bulb sits inside the slatted shade (sold separately), with the vertical gaps between slats allowing light to escape in controlled strips while the overall form casts a warm downward pool. The slat construction gives the pendant a semi-translucent quality when lit, with shadows and light alternating across the wood grain.

Designed for kitchens, dining areas and hallways where decorative and task lighting overlap, the Edge-1 hangs on a 2000mm black cable that can be shortened during installation to suit ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.5m. Over a dining table the pendant typically sits 700-800mm above the surface; over a kitchen island 750-900mm clearance works for most users. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor spaces only.

The natural brown timber shows visible grain variation between individual pendants depending on the section of wood each slat was cut from. The slats are held in a metal framework at top and base, with the metal finished in a tonal bronze that sits close to the timber colour without matching it exactly. The 200mm diameter and 320mm height give the pendant enough visual weight to anchor a 1.2-1.6m dining table as a single drop, or to be used in multiples along a kitchen island.

The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to complement the natural timber finish and create ambient rather than harsh task lighting.

Does the wood finish vary between pendants?

Yes. Each pendant is assembled from natural timber slats, so the grain pattern, tonal variation and colour depth differ slightly between individual pieces. This is characteristic of natural wood products, not a defect.

Can the cable length be adjusted?

The 2000mm cable can be shortened during installation by looping excess cable inside the ceiling rose or by cutting and re-terminating at the desired length. Once installed the drop is fixed until the pendant is taken down and re-fitted.
