Description
The Eclipse Large is a 350mm polished chrome table lamp built around two curved metal arcs that cross at the base and extend upward to support an optical glass shade at the head. The shade is cut with faceted surfaces that refract light as it exits the G9 bulb (sold separately), casting moving patterns across nearby surfaces as the angle of view changes. The chrome frame reflects ambient light in the room, adding a secondary layer of brightness beyond the bulb itself.
Designed for side tables, bedside surfaces and console tables where decorative and task lighting overlap, the Eclipse works as both a reading light and an accent piece. The compact 170mm × 150mm footprint fits narrow surfaces without overhanging, while the 350mm height positions the light source above typical table clutter. The lamp is dimmable when paired with a compatible G9 LED bulb and dimmer switch, allowing output to be adjusted from bright task light down to low ambient glow.
The polished chrome finish on the arcs gives a mirror-like surface that picks up surrounding colours and reflections, making the lamp respond visually to changes in room lighting throughout the day. The optical glass shade weighs approximately 400g of the lamp's total 1.7kg, giving the piece a grounded presence on the table without risk of tipping. The crossing-arc design means the lamp presents a different silhouette depending on the viewing angle, with the glass shade appearing to float when seen from certain positions.
Mantra manufactures the Eclipse range in Spain. The polished chrome arcs are formed from steel tube bent to shape and chrome-plated to achieve the reflective finish. The optical glass is machine-cut with facets that create prismatic refraction when backlit, an effect that becomes more pronounced with higher-output G9 bulbs or when the lamp is placed against darker backgrounds that emphasise the light patterns.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Eclipse takes a single G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. Most users pair it with a 2-4W G9 LED in 2700K-3000K warm white for ambient light, or 5-6W for brighter task lighting. The lamp accepts bulbs up to the maximum wattage supported by G9 sockets on 240V mains.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, when fitted with a dimmable G9 LED bulb and connected to a compatible dimmer switch. The lamp itself has no built-in dimming mechanism — dimmer compatibility depends entirely on the bulb chosen.
How stable is it on a bedside table?
The 1.7kg weight and 170mm × 150mm circular base provide stability on most flat surfaces. The centre of gravity sits low due to the metal base plate, so the lamp resists tipping under normal use. On very narrow bedside tables under 200mm wide, position the lamp towards the back edge to avoid overhang.
How is the chrome surface maintained?
Polished chrome shows fingerprints and dust more visibly than matt finishes. Wipe with a soft microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or smudges, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water, then dry immediately with a clean cloth to prevent water spotting. Avoid abrasive cleaners or rough cloths that can scratch the chrome plating.
