Description

The Eclipse is a 1.7m floor lamp built around two polished chrome stems that twist and cross to form a sculptural frame, with two clear optical glass shades positioned near the top of the structure. Each shade houses a G9 halogen bulb (sold separately), and the clear glass refracts the light in multiple directions, casting refracted patterns onto surrounding walls and ceilings rather than providing direct downlighting.

Designed for living rooms, lounges and open-plan spaces where the lamp functions as both a light source and a sculptural feature, the Eclipse works best when placed away from walls so the refracted light can project in all directions. The 300mm-diameter weighted base provides stability on both carpets and hard floors despite the 1.7m height, and the 9kg total weight gives the lamp a solid presence that resists being knocked over in high-traffic areas. The lamp is dimmable when paired with dimmable G9 halogen bulbs and a compatible floor dimmer or plug-in dimmer.

The polished chrome finish on the twin stems gives mirror-like reflections that pick up ambient light from the room during the day and reflect the lamp's own output at night. The crossing stems form a figure-of-eight profile when viewed from the side, with the two glass shades positioned at different heights to break symmetry. The clear optical glass has a faceted inner surface that intensifies refraction, producing more pronounced light scatter than plain glass.

Note that the Eclipse is not compatible with LED or CFL G9 bulbs due to the optical design requiring the higher light intensity and spectral output of halogen G9 capsules. Using LED or CFL bulbs will reduce the refracted light effect and may cause compatibility issues with dimming.

Can I use LED G9 bulbs in this lamp?

No. The Eclipse is designed specifically for halogen G9 capsules and is not compatible with LED or CFL G9 bulbs. The optical glass shades require the higher light intensity and spectral output of halogen to produce the intended refracted light effect.

Is the Eclipse dimmable?

Yes, when paired with dimmable G9 halogen bulbs and a compatible dimmer. You can use either a floor dimmer fitted into the lamp's cable or a plug-in trailing-edge dimmer between the lamp and the wall socket.

What wattage G9 bulbs should I use?

Most users pair this with two 40W or 60W G9 halogen capsules. The power consumption depends on your bulb choice. The lamp itself does not have a fixed wattage rating. Check the Specification tab for voltage compatibility.
