Eaton 3 Light E14 Semi Flush Ceiling Light 32cm - Antique Brass

A close-fitting glass and brass light for rooms where a hanging pendant would be in the way. Clear glass carries the light, and the antique brass has a softened, slightly darkened look rather than a bright polish. It takes three candle lamps on the small screw fitting, so the glass reads as separate points of light rather than one broad glow. At 32cm across it is a middling size, wide enough to work as the main light in a room without crowding a smaller ceiling.

We would put this in a hallway, on a landing, in a bedroom or a study, particularly where headroom matters and a drop would be felt every time you walked under it. The light it gives is general and ambient, spread through clear glass, so it sits well in rooms that already have a table or floor lamp for close work. It will dim if you fit dimmable lamps and pair them with a suitable dimmer, which is worth doing where you want the room quiet in the evening.

The shades are glass and the metalwork is finished in antique brass, which shows dust and fingermarks less readily than a mirror-bright metal. To clean, wait until the lamps are cold, wipe the glass with a barely damp cloth and dry it off, keeping water well away from the lampholders. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same fitting in polished chrome, and the range goes further than that: a broader semi flush, pendants in several widths, table lamps and a wall light, all sharing the clear glass and the same metal finishes. It is a fitting for dry rooms indoors, on a normal household circuit. Lamps are not included.

Which lamps should I fit?

Three E14 candle lamps, up to 20W each. LED candle types, either C35 or flame tip, are what we would choose. Lamps are supplied separately.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and use a dimmer suited to them. No dimmer is supplied with the light.

How much space does it need below the ceiling?

The overall height is 300mm, with the body itself accounting for 245mm, so it stays close to the ceiling.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means dry indoor rooms only, so keep it out of bathroom and shower zones.

How wide is it, and how heavy?

It measures 320mm in diameter and weighs 3.1kg.

How do I keep the glass looking clear?

Switch off and let everything cool, then use a soft cloth very lightly dampened with water, drying the glass straight afterwards. Avoid abrasive creams on the brass.
