Lori E27 Amber Glass Pendant Light 12cm - Satin Nickel

An amber globe shade, open at the mouth, hangs from a slim satin nickel suspension that adjusts to the drop you want. At 12cm across it reads as a small pool of colour rather than a full-size shade, and the amber tint warms the light passing through it. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and we would put a clear LED in it so the shape of the lamp shows through the tint.

Small pendants like this earn their keep in groups: a line along a kitchen island or breakfast bar, or flanking a bed, or on its own over a hall table where a wider shade would crowd the space. The adjustable drop means it also suits a stairwell or a stepped run of worktop, where each fitting needs to sit at a slightly different height. It will dim with a compatible lamp and dimmer, both bought separately. We reach for it where a little warmth in the light matters more than raw output.

The metalwork is finished in satin nickel, a soft grey sheen that sits quietly beside chrome taps and handles without matching them exactly. Before cleaning, isolate the supply and give the lamp time to cool; then a dry cloth for the nickel and a barely damp one for the globe, dried off before the power goes back on. Keep it to dry indoor rooms. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Lori range runs to flush fittings too, and the same round globe shade appears there in green, opal, smoke, iridescent and chrome, so a hall and landing can be kept in step. Lamps are not included.

How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 270mm at its shortest to 1770mm at its longest, so it can sit close to the ceiling or come well down over a table or island.

What lamp should I use?

It takes a single E27 lamp rated up to 20W. An LED is the sensible choice, and a clear or globe-shaped one looks best behind the amber tint. Lamps are supplied separately.

Can I dim it?

Yes, provided you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer. Neither is included with the pendant.

How big is the shade?

The globe measures 120mm in diameter, which puts it in the small bracket and makes it easy to run several in a row without them looking heavy.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated for indoor use in dry rooms only, so keep it away from showers, baths and anywhere it might be splashed.

How do I keep the amber looking clear?

Dust the globe regularly with a soft dry cloth. If it needs more, use a barely damp cloth with the power off and the lamp cool, then dry it fully before switching back on.
