Description

The Durban is a 65cm linear LED wall light built around a hollow rectangular frame in matt black, with an integrated 20W LED strip running down one internal edge. The LED casts 1550 lumens at 3000K through a 60° beam angle, washing light across the adjacent wall surface rather than projecting it into the room. The open frame design means the fitting reads as a defined geometric outline from the front, with the light itself appearing as a vertical glow along one edge.

Designed for hallways, staircases, living room accent walls and beside mirrors or headboards, the Durban works where you need wall-grazing ambient light without a diffused shade. The 650mm height suits wall spaces between 2m and 3m wide, and the 120mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting clear of door swings and corridor traffic. The fitting can be mounted vertically (as shown) or rotated 90° for horizontal installation above low furniture or along corridor runs.

The matt black finish minimises reflections under daylight and pairs with contemporary, industrial and monochrome interiors. The frame is die-cast aluminium rather than steel, keeping the weight to 1.26kg for single-person installation on plasterboard walls with standard wall plugs. The LED is non-dimmable and rated for 100-250V supply, making it compatible with UK mains and most international voltage standards. The fitting is backed by a 3-year warranty covering LED driver and housing defects.

Is the Durban dimmable?

No. The integrated LED runs at a fixed 20W output and is not compatible with dimmer switches. The fitting operates at full 1550lm brightness when switched on.

Can it be mounted horizontally?

Yes. The rectangular frame can be rotated 90° during installation to sit horizontally along a wall. The LED strip will still run along one internal edge, washing light up or down the wall depending on which edge you position at the top.

What wall fixings are needed?

At 1.26kg the fitting can be mounted on plasterboard using standard wall plugs and screws. The back plate has two fixing points spaced 600mm apart vertically (or horizontally if rotated). Solid walls need masonry fixings.

Does it produce much heat?

The 20W LED generates minimal heat compared to halogen equivalents. The aluminium frame acts as a passive heatsink, dissipating warmth away from the LED driver. Safe to install near fabrics and wall finishes without clearance concerns.
