Dublin 1 Light Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Polished Chrome IP44

The Dublin is a 182mm semi-flush ceiling light with a textured pressed glass shade held by polished chrome metalwork. The fitting projects 205mm from the ceiling and houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) rated up to 40W. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, where it can withstand moisture from showers and baths without compromising electrical safety.

Designed for bathrooms with 2.3-2.6m ceiling heights, the Dublin works as general ambient lighting over a bath, above a mirror, or as primary ceiling lighting in a shower room or cloakroom. The semi-flush mount sits closer to the ceiling than a pendant, making it suitable for rooms where headroom matters. The textured glass diffuses light evenly across the room while the polished chrome collar reflects additional light upward onto the ceiling.

The pressed glass shade features a grid-like texture moulded into the surface, creating horizontal and vertical ribbing that softens the light output and adds visual texture when viewed from below. The polished chrome finish provides a reflective surface that pairs with chrome taps, towel rails and shower fittings in contemporary and traditional bathrooms. The glass shade is removable for bulb replacement and cleaning, and the 182mm diameter footprint works in compact bathrooms without dominating the ceiling plane.

What does IP44 rated mean for bathroom use?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against splashing water from any direction. This makes it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower enclosure and more than 60cm from a bath or basin). It cannot be fitted directly above a bath or inside a shower enclosure, which require IP65 or higher.

What bulb does it take?

The Dublin takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for bathroom lighting, or cool white (4000K-5000K) for task lighting above a mirror.

Can the glass shade be removed for cleaning?

Yes. The glass shade lifts off the chrome collar for bulb replacement and cleaning. Wipe the textured glass with a damp microfibre cloth and dry immediately to prevent water marks on the polished chrome.

What ceiling height does this suit?

The 205mm projection works best in rooms with 2.3-2.6m ceiling heights. In rooms with lower ceilings the fitting still functions but may feel more prominent visually. In rooms above 2.7m a longer pendant drop might provide better proportions.
