Description

The Drimena is an outdoor wall lantern in a distressed antique copper finish. A round wall plate and a square arm hold a twin-disc canopy over a clear glass cylinder caged by slim vertical rods. The body is zinc-plated steel, coloured antique copper, and the lantern stands 27.5cm high with a length of 16.5cm, projecting 20cm from the wall. It takes a single E27 bulb of up to 60W, and the bulb is not included, so you choose the colour and warmth of light. It is rated IP44, which means it is protected from splashing water and can live outdoors on a house wall.

We would put this lantern by a front door, a back porch, a garden wall or the side of a garage, anywhere a pool of light helps people find the step and the keyhole after dark. Because the glass is clear, the bulb itself is on show, so a filament bulb looks especially good behind the rods. The antique copper colour sits comfortably against brick, render and painted stone, and it suits a cottage or period home as readily as a newer house wanting a traditional look. Corner mounting is possible, which helps where the best spot by the door is on a corner of the house.
