Description

A single suspension on black braided flex, with an antique brass ceiling cup and a matching antique brass lampholder at the end of the drop. The head measures 10cm across, so it reads as a small piece of hardware rather than something asking to be looked at, and the braid gives the cable a bit of texture where smooth white flex would simply vanish against a pale ceiling. It takes an E27 lamp and will dim, provided the lamp and the dimmer switch are suited to one another. The shade is fitted by the customer and is not included: see our lamp shades.

The flex runs to a generous 1.5m, which covers a kitchen island, a run over a long dining table, or a drop beside a bed in place of a bedside lamp. We use these in threes and fives where a single larger fitting would feel heavy, and we like them equally on their own above a worktop corner or a reading chair. The bare lampholder suits a decorative filament-style LED, though it will equally take a shade if you would rather soften the light. It is intended for dry rooms indoors, so keep it away from shower zones and unheated outbuildings.

The brass is warm and slightly aged rather than bright, and it settles well against black braid, dark paintwork and older timber. Dust the cup and holder with a dry cloth and give the braid an occasional light brush; if the metal is marked, a barely damp cloth and a proper dry afterwards is all it wants, with no polishes or solvents. It carries a two year warranty. The wider range runs to small flush ceiling lights in matt black, matt white, polished chrome, satin nickel, black chrome, antique copper, gilt bronze and pewter as well as this brass, plus curved linear and round pendant frames if you want several lamps carried on one fitting. Lamps are not included.
