Description

This is a bare pendant set: a satin nickel ceiling cup and matching lampholder, hung on black braided flex. The cup measures 10cm across, so it sits close to the ceiling without drawing attention, and the braid gives the drop a texture plain PVC flex never manages. The holder takes an E27 lamp, and the drop can be set to whatever height the room wants, up to 1.5m. Nothing about it is fussy; it is simply a good holder on a good cable. The shade is fitted by the customer; see our lamp shades.

We reach for this one where the lamp itself does the work: a decorative filament bulb over a console table, a smoked globe beside a bed, or a row above a kitchen island at staggered heights. It works just as well with a shade bought separately, whether a fabric drum or a glass dome, and it will dim if you pair a suitable lamp with a compatible dimmer. The flex is rated to carry 1.5kg, so keep heavier stone or metal shades for a sturdier fitting.

The metalwork wears a satin nickel finish, a soft grey sheen that reads quieter than chrome and sits happily alongside brushed taps and door furniture. To clean, switch off at the wall, wait for the lamp to go cold, then run a dry cloth over the metal and a soft brush along the braid; polishes and sprays will only dull it. Dry indoor rooms are its territory, so a porch or a shower room is not for it. The matching ceiling light in this range comes in satin nickel alongside antique brass, pewter, black chrome and gilt bronze, and there are curved frames if you want a wider arrangement. It carries a two year warranty. Lamps are not included.

Can I hang a shade from it?

Yes, provided the shade fits an E27 holder and the total weight stays within the 1.5kg maximum load. Lighter fabric and glass shades are the safest choice. Choose one from our lamp shades.

Is it dimmable?

It can be dimmed, but only with a dimmable lamp and a matching dimmer; neither is supplied with the pendant.

How big is the ceiling cup?

It is 100mm in diameter with a body height of 85mm, so it stays discreet even in a group of several pendants.

Will it cope with a bathroom or covered porch?

No. This is an IP20 fitting for dry interior rooms such as kitchens, bedrooms, hallways and living rooms.
