Description

The Douille is a single-light wall fitting with a ribbed glass bell shade suspended on a twisted black fabric cord from a matt black wall arm with polished brass accents. The polished brass lampholder and fixings sit inside a heavy-cast metal housing at the end of the arm, and the cord runs through a brass ferrule at the top of the shade. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for bedside positions, hallways, dining room alcoves and living room task lighting, the Douille provides directed downlight through the ribbed glass shade while the cord allows the shade to hang 324-1224mm below the wall arm depending on how much cord is released during installation. The adjustable drop means the fitting can be set to different heights — higher for ambient hallway lighting, lower for reading positions beside a bed or armchair. The 100mm width and 197mm projection keep the fitting compact on the wall.

The ribbed glass shade diffuses the filament of vintage-style LED bulbs while still allowing the bulb shape to be visible through the glass. The matt black finish on the wall arm contrasts with the warm tone of the polished brass lampholder and ferrule, giving the fitting a two-tone industrial character that pairs with both period and contemporary interiors. The twisted fabric cord adds texture and a soft drape that contrasts with the metal components.

What bulb works best with the ribbed glass shade?

The shade is designed for vintage-style LED filament bulbs with an E27 base. A 4-6W LED filament bulb in warm white (2700K) shows through the ribbed glass while providing enough light for reading or task use. The shade hides standard bulb shapes but looks best with visible filament designs.

Can the cord length be adjusted after installation?

The cord is adjustable during installation by releasing or taking up slack at the wall arm. Once the shade is set at the desired height and the cord is secured, it remains at that length. The fitting is not designed for regular height adjustment once installed.

What is the projection from the wall?

The wall arm projects 197mm from the wall. When the shade is hung, the overall projection including the glass shade is approximately 295mm, so the fitting needs clearance of at least 300mm from the wall to avoid the shade hitting furniture or obstructions below.

Is the shade replaceable if broken?

The ribbed glass shade is a separate component that can be replaced if damaged. Contact Elstead Lighting or Niori for replacement shade availability for this model.
