Description

The Douille is a single pendant light with a ribbed clear glass shade, a polished nickel canopy and a heavy-cast threaded lamp holder that sits above the glass. The lamp holder takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and is suspended on a twisted fabric cord with 1000mm of adjustable drop. The polished nickel finish covers both the ceiling rose and the cast metal components of the fitting.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and entrance halls where a single pendant provides task or ambient light in a compact footprint, the Douille works in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. The 100mm diameter glass shade keeps the fitting unobtrusive over narrow breakfast bars or in hallway positions where a wider pendant would dominate. The vertical ribbing in the glass refracts light from the bulb, creating subtle line patterns on surrounding surfaces when lit.

The heavy-cast lamp holder adds weight and substance to what is otherwise a minimal fitting, and the threaded detail on the metal echoes early 20th-century industrial lighting without reproducing full factory pendant proportions. The polished nickel finish gives a cooler tone than brass or bronze, pairing with stainless steel appliances, chrome taps and grey-toned interiors as well as warmer woods. The twisted cord is adjustable during installation, allowing the pendant to sit 255mm below the ceiling rose at minimum drop or extend to 2155mm for higher ceilings or stairwell positions.

What bulb does it take?

The Douille takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a vintage-style LED filament bulb at 4-6W and 2200K-2700K to suit the industrial-inspired design.

Can the drop be adjusted after installation?

The cord length is adjusted during installation by threading the twisted fabric cable through the ceiling rose before fixing. Once installed, the drop is set and cannot be changed without removing the fitting.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 255mm means the pendant sits close to the ceiling, which works in rooms from 2.4m upwards. The maximum 2155mm drop allows the fitting to be used in taller spaces, stairwells or double-height rooms where the pendant can hang lower.

Is the glass shade removable for bulb changes?

Yes. The ribbed glass shade sits below the threaded lamp holder and can be removed to access the E27 bulb fitting. The glass is clear, so the bulb is visible when lit.
