The Douille is a single pendant light pairing a ribbed clear glass bell shade with an aged brass lamp holder and twisted fabric cable. The holder is cast from solid brass with visible ribbed detailing that echoes early 20th-century industrial lighting fittings, while the aged brass finish adds tonal variation and a muted patina that sits comfortably in both period and contemporary settings.

Designed for kitchens, hallways, dining areas and side-of-bed positions where a single decorative pendant provides both task and ambient light, the Douille works over kitchen islands when used in multiples, or as a standalone accent over a console table or reading chair. The 1000mm twisted cable is adjustable on installation between a 255mm minimum drop and a 2155mm maximum drop, allowing the pendant to be set at the correct height for ceiling roses between 2.4m and 3.6m above floor level.

The ribbed glass shade measures 100mm diameter and diffuses light from a single E27 bulb (sold separately) whilst keeping the bulb visible, making it well-suited to vintage filament-style LED bulbs where the lamp itself acts as a decorative element. The glass ribs create vertical shadow lines on surrounding surfaces when lit, adding texture to plain walls. The aged brass finish on the holder and ceiling rose shows natural tonal variation between batches, ranging from warmer amber-brass tones to cooler gunmetal-grey patinas depending on the specific casting.

What bulb does the Douille take?

The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. The ribbed glass shade and visible holder suit vintage-style LED filament bulbs between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K colour temperature, where the bulb itself acts as a decorative feature.

How is the drop length adjusted?

The 1000mm twisted fabric cable is adjustable on installation by shortening the cable run inside the ceiling rose. Once fitted and the ceiling rose secured, the drop is fixed. The minimum drop of 255mm suits low ceilings or flush applications, whilst the maximum 2155mm drop works in double-height spaces or stairwells.

Does the aged brass finish vary between pieces?

Yes. Aged brass is a living finish applied to cast brass, so tonal variation occurs between individual castings and batches. Some pieces present warmer amber-brass tones, others show cooler gunmetal-grey patinas. This is characteristic of the finish, not a defect.

Can multiple Douille pendants be used together?

Yes. The Douille works well in groups of two or three over kitchen islands or dining tables. When using multiples, space the ceiling roses 400-600mm apart and set each pendant at the same drop length to maintain visual balance.
