Description

The Dot is a 90mm square recessed downlight with a tiltable GU10 fitting housed inside a white aluminium square frame. The inner lamp holder rotates within the fixed outer frame, allowing the light beam to be angled towards a wall, a desk surface, or an object without moving the fitting itself. The downlight accepts a GU10 bulb up to 50W (sold separately).

Designed for recessed installation into plasterboard ceilings, the Dot suits residential rooms, offices, retail and hospitality interiors where directed light is needed without the visual presence of a surface-mounted spotlight. The 90mm square aperture gives a geometric alternative to circular downlights and the white finish allows the fitting to sit flush with white or light-coloured ceilings. The tilt function makes it useful for accent lighting on artworks, bookshelves, kitchen worktops or feature walls.

The aluminium construction dissipates heat from the GU10 lamp without requiring additional heatsinking. The IP20 rating limits use to dry interior locations — the fitting is not rated for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor installation. The white powder-coated finish resists minor scuffs and the spring clips that hold the fitting in the ceiling void are accessible for re-lamping without removing the entire unit. Pairing the Dot with LED GU10 bulbs reduces energy consumption and extends the relamping interval to several years in typical residential use.

What bulb does it take and is one included?

The Dot takes a GU10 bulb up to 50W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit a 4-6W LED GU10 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for general ambient use or a cool white (4000K) for task lighting in kitchens and offices.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The fitting projects 45mm above the ceiling surface into the void. A minimum void depth of 60-70mm is recommended to allow clearance for the lamp holder and wiring connections.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture ingress. It must only be installed in dry interior locations away from direct water contact. For bathrooms, look for downlights with IP44 or IP65 ratings.

How much can the lamp tilt?

The GU10 lamp holder tilts within the square frame, typically offering approximately 20-30 degrees of adjustment from centre. This allows the beam to be angled towards walls or surfaces without being fully adjustable to all angles.
