Description

The Deryn is a 3-light chandelier built around an inverted diamond-shaped frame in natural brass, with three clear seeded glass cylinders suspended from the frame's lower points. Each cylinder houses an E27 bulb fitting (bulbs sold separately), and the glass itself is seeded with tiny air bubbles that diffuse light while maintaining transparency. The natural brass finish has a warm, slightly matt tone that sits between polished brass and antique brass.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living areas with ceiling heights of 2.5m or above, the Deryn hangs on an adjustable chain allowing a minimum drop of 416mm and a maximum drop of 2471mm. At 558mm diameter the chandelier suits tables 1.2-1.6m long or open-plan dining zones where a central pendant provides both task and ambient light. The 1828mm chain length allows flexibility in high-ceiling installations without requiring additional extension.

The frame is fabricated from steel with a natural brass plating that develops a subtle patina over time when exposed to air, deepening the warm tone. The seeded glass cylinders measure approximately 140mm tall and 90mm diameter, and the seeding pattern varies slightly between individual pieces. Each socket accepts up to 60W per bulb, giving a combined maximum of 180W across the three fittings. The chandelier weighs approximately 3.2kg and fixes to a standard UK ceiling rose via the ceiling canopy and chain.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does the Deryn take?

The chandelier takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED filament bulbs at 6-8W and 2700K to complement the natural brass and seeded glass aesthetic.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 416mm means the chandelier can be installed in rooms with ceiling heights as low as 2.3m, though 2.5m or above is recommended for comfortable head clearance when walking beneath. The adjustable chain allows drops up to 2471mm for higher ceilings.

Does the brass finish tarnish?

Natural brass develops a patina over time when exposed to air, deepening the warm tone. This is a characteristic of the material, not a defect. The patina can be slowed by keeping the fitting away from steam and high humidity, or reversed with a brass polish if a brighter finish is preferred.

What is seeded glass?

Seeded glass contains tiny air bubbles trapped in the glass during manufacture, creating a textured, slightly vintage appearance. The bubbles diffuse light without blocking it entirely, giving a softer glow than clear glass while still showing the filament of the bulb inside.
