Description
Deco Peacock is a printed rug in blue, covered in rows of fanned peacock motifs drawn in fine pale lines, each fan rising from a slender stem and tucked into the next like scales. A plain blue border, edged with a thin pale line, runs round the rug and gives the pattern a neat, finished frame. The look is pure art deco, all repeating geometry softened by the feathered detail in every fan. It is made from 100% polyester and digitally printed, so the linework stays crisp and the blue runs evenly from edge to edge.
We think it does its best work in a hallway, where the runners come into their own: the 61 by 170cm runner suits a narrow hall, and the 76 by 230cm runner covers a longer stretch from the front door. The 76 by 150cm size sits well in an entrance hall or at the foot of the stairs, while the 122 by 170cm and 152 by 230cm sizes are large enough to go under a sofa or armchair in a living room. The blue works with warm wood floors and cool grey walls alike.
The rug is washable, which settles the main worry about putting a patterned rug by the front door, where muddy shoes and wet coats come in first. Before you choose, measure the floor and allow a strip of bare floor round the edges, so the blue border frames the space rather than running into the skirting.
