Description

The Cygnet is a 1.7m tall floor lamp built around a polished chrome frame that suspends six G4 halogen bulbs among layers of black gloss glass panels and Asfour crystal pyramids. The bulbs sit within the structure, casting light through the black glass and off the faceted crystal, creating overlapping shadows and highlights across the surrounding floor and walls.

Designed for living rooms, formal lounges and entrance halls with at least 2.5m ceiling height, the Cygnet functions as both a decorative centrepiece and a source of ambient light. The 580mm canopy spreads across a circular polished chrome base approximately 350mm in diameter, giving the lamp a 15kg total weight that holds it stable on hard floors and short-pile rugs. The six G4 halogen bulbs are included and are dimmable when paired with a compatible halogen dimmer on the mains circuit.

The black glass panels are cut and polished to a high-gloss finish, contrasting with the reflective chrome metalwork. The Asfour crystal pyramids hang on individual chrome wires, rotating slightly when air currents shift and catching light from different angles as a result. The G4 bulbs run warm during operation and must be replaced with halogen equivalents — the lamp is not compatible with G4 LED or CFL retrofits due to the transformer specification.

Can I use LED bulbs in this lamp?

No. The Cygnet uses a transformer designed specifically for G4 halogen bulbs. G4 LED and CFL retrofits are not compatible and may damage the transformer or fail to operate correctly. Replacement bulbs must be halogen.

Is the lamp dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable G4 halogen bulbs (included) and connected to a halogen-compatible dimmer on the mains circuit. The lamp itself does not have an integrated dimmer — dimming is controlled at the wall switch or circuit level.

What ceiling height is needed?

The Cygnet stands 1.7m tall with a 580mm-wide canopy. Rooms with 2.5m or higher ceilings provide sufficient clearance above the lamp. In lower-ceilinged rooms the canopy may feel visually compressed against the ceiling.

How is the crystal cleaned?

The Asfour crystal pyramids and black glass panels collect dust over time. Wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks on the glass, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the chrome frame or getting moisture into the lamp sockets. Do not use household glass cleaners or sprays near the electrical components.
