Description

This cushion alarm clock has a softly squared outline with rounded corners and a clean white plastic case. It stands 8.5cm high and 8.5cm wide and is just 4cm deep, so it takes up very little room. The white analogue dial carries large blue Arabic numerals and a ring of fine minute dots. The black hour and minute hands carry luminous strips so you can read the time with the lights off. Its quartz movement drives a second hand that sweeps smoothly round rather than ticking, so it stays silent through the night.

Its natural home is beside the bed, where a quiet clock matters most, but it suits a spare room, a desk or a shelf just as well. The alarm is a crescendo alarm: it starts softly and grows louder the longer it sounds, a gentler way to be woken than a sudden blast. When it goes off, the long bar across the top marked LIGHT / SNOOZE is easy to find in the dark. A press gives you a little longer in bed, and the same bar switches on the light so you can read the dial at any hour without reaching for a lamp.

Two dials on the back set the time and the alarm. The clock runs on the AA battery size, also labelled LR6 or MN1500, which is not included, so keep one to hand.
