Description
The Cromwell is an 18-light two-tier chandelier built from hand-forged iron with an old bronze finish, spanning 1300mm across. Six candle-style arms radiate from the upper tier and twelve from the lower, each ending in an E14 socket. The two tiers are suspended on chains from a central ceiling canopy, with the chain lengths adjustable on installation to set a minimum 1285mm drop or up to 6000mm in double-height spaces.
Designed for grand dining rooms, entrance halls, and period properties with ceiling heights of 3m or above, the Cromwell provides both ambient light across a large area and a strong visual anchor. The 2500mm of supplied chain can be shortened during fitting to suit rooms from 2.7m to 8m ceiling height. The iron construction gives the chandelier a substantial 12kg weight, requiring a reinforced ceiling rose or joist fixings rather than standard plasterboard fixings.
Each arm is hand-shaped and the old bronze finish is applied by hand, so tonal variation and subtle texture differences between individual pieces are normal. The finish shows darker bronze tones in recesses and lighter bronze highlights on raised edges, replicating the patina of aged metalwork. The candle drips and bobeches at each socket holder add period detail without interfering with bulb fitting. The chandelier accepts any standard E14 candle bulbs up to 60W each, giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or decorative filament bulbs depending on the required light output and colour temperature.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Cromwell take?
The chandelier takes 18 x E14 candle bulbs, sold separately. Each socket supports up to 60W, though most users opt for 4-6W LED candle bulbs at 2700K-3000K for a warm glow without excessive brightness. Decorative filament bulbs also work well if a visible-bulb aesthetic is preferred.
What ceiling height is needed?
The minimum drop of 1285mm means the chandelier suits rooms with ceiling heights of 3m or above when hung in a central position. For double-height entrance halls the supplied 2500mm of chain allows drops up to 6000mm, positioning the chandelier lower into the space.
How is the chandelier installed?
The 12kg weight requires a reinforced ceiling rose fixed to a joist or a ceiling mounting plate spanning multiple joists. Standard plasterboard fixings are not adequate. The chain length is adjusted during installation by removing or adding links before the chandelier is hung.
Does the old bronze finish vary between pieces?
Yes. The finish is applied by hand, so tonal variation and texture differences are normal. Some arms may show slightly darker or lighter bronze tones depending on how the patina settled during finishing. This variation is intentional and replicates the appearance of aged metalwork.
