Description

Country Floral is a printed rug that brings a meadow of wildflowers indoors. On a soft white ground, loose watercolour sprays of buttery yellow and orange blooms mingle with pink, plum and lilac flowers, teal leaves and pale grey-blue grasses, rising from the bottom edge as though growing in a summer border. The Yellow colourway lets those warm golden tones lead. It is made entirely from polyester and digitally printed, so the watercolour detail of every petal and stem comes through clearly.

It suits a hallway best, where its romantic floral design greets you at the door. It comes in a choice of sizes. The 61 by 170cm and 76 by 230cm runners are made for halls, landings and long corridors, while the 76 by 150cm size fits neatly at the foot of a staircase or beside a bed. For a sitting room or bedroom, the 122 by 170cm and 152 by 230cm rugs give enough width to sit under a coffee table or to run beneath the lower half of a bed.

Hallways take the brunt of daily comings and goings, which is where this rug earns its place: it is washable, so muddy footprints, pet hair and spilled drinks need not mean living with a mark. Before you choose a size, measure your space and allow a border of bare floor around the edges, so the flowers have room to breathe and the rug looks settled rather than squeezed in.
