Description
A small opal glass shade sits on a satin nickel arm and backplate, holding its light close to the wall and throwing a soft glow both up and down. The glass is opal white, so the lamp behind it never shows as a hard point of brightness. It takes a single E14 lamp of up to 40W, and we would put a golf ball LED in it. There is no switch on the fitting itself, so it works from the wall switch, and it will dim if the lamp you choose is a dimming type.
At around 10cm across, this is a light for places where something larger would crowd the room. It works well in a hallway or up a stairwell, beside a bedroom mirror, or in an alcove that needs a little warmth without glare. It suits rooms that stay dry and warm rather than bathrooms or covered porches. We reach for it when a customer wants light at head height in a narrow space and has very little wall to give it.
The shade is glass and the metalwork carries a satin nickel finish, which keeps fingermarks and dust less obvious than a polished surface would. To clean, turn the light off at the wall and let everything cool, then take the dust off the metal with a dry duster and give the glass an occasional wipe with a barely damp cloth, drying it straight after. Avoid anything abrasive or solvent based on the nickel. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included. We stock the same wall light in antique brass, and there is a wider two light version in both finishes, along with ceiling fittings in the range if you want the opal glass repeated overhead.

Frequently Asked
What size lamp does it take?
A single E14 lamp, up to 40W. A golf ball shape suits the shade best, and an LED version keeps the running cost down.
Can it be dimmed?
Yes, provided you fit a dimmable lamp and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. Standard non-dimming LEDs will not work on a dimmer.
How far does it stick out from the wall?
The projection is 170mm, with a height of 210mm and a width of 100mm, so it stays tight to the wall in a corridor.
Is there a switch on the fitting?
No, it is unswitched and operates from the wall switch or circuit it is wired into.
Is it suitable for a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20, which means it is intended for dry indoor rooms away from splashing water.
What colour is the glass?
Opal white, which diffuses the lamp evenly rather than letting it show through as a bright spot.
