Cool 3 Light Outdoor Pendant Light - Matt White & Opal White

The Cool is a 510mm diameter outdoor pendant light built from a moulded opal white polyethylene diffuser suspended beneath a matt white metal canopy. The diffuser houses three E27 bulb holders inside, with the translucent polyethylene acting as the shade to spread light evenly across its curved surface. The IP44 rating allows the pendant to be used in covered outdoor areas where it's protected from direct rain but exposed to moisture and dust.

Designed for patios, covered terraces, pergolas and exterior dining areas with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Cool provides ambient outdoor lighting through a large diffuser that casts soft, even illumination in all directions. The drop is adjustable between 550mm minimum and 1500mm maximum during installation, allowing the pendant to be positioned at the right height for dining tables, seating areas or walkways. The circular canopy fits standard ceiling roses and the cable run is concealed within the suspension stem.

The polyethylene material is lighter and more impact-resistant than glass, making the pendant practical for outdoor use where temperature changes, wind movement and accidental knocks are more likely than in indoor settings. The opal finish diffuses light without creating hot spots or harsh shadows, while the matt white canopy and stem blend into white-painted ceilings or pergola beams. At 5.7kg the pendant has enough weight to resist light wind movement once installed.

The three E27 sockets accept standard screw-fit bulbs up to the wattage limit specified by the manufacturer. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 2700K-3000K to create inviting outdoor spaces for evening use. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulb and dimmer model chosen — LED bulbs rated as dimmable will work with compatible LED dimmers.

What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 means the pendant is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction. It can be used in covered outdoor areas like patios, pergolas and covered terraces where it's sheltered from direct rain, but not in fully exposed positions where rain falls directly onto the fitting.

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The pendant takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor dining and seating areas.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The drop is set during installation by cutting the suspension cable to the desired length between 550mm and 1500mm. Once installed, the drop cannot be adjusted without removing the pendant and re-wiring.

Is the diffuser glass or plastic?

The diffuser is moulded from high-grade polyethylene, not glass. Polyethylene is lighter, more impact-resistant and less likely to crack under temperature changes than glass, making it more practical for outdoor use.
