Description

Small, quietly proportioned and easy to place, this is a two lamp wall light that pairs smoke glass with a satin black finish. The tinted glass takes the edge off the G9 capsules behind it, so what reaches the room is a soft glow rather than a hard bright point you end up looking away from. It measures 19cm across and stays close to the wall, which makes it useful in a hallway or beside a bed where anything deeper would catch a shoulder.

We reach for this one in pairs: either side of a bed, flanking a mirror on a landing, or spaced along a corridor that wants light at eye level rather than overhead. There is no switch on the body, so it runs from the wall switch or from a dimmer circuit, and you will need dimmable capsules if you want to bring the level down, the dimmer itself being a separate purchase. Rated for dry indoor rooms, it belongs in bedrooms, sitting rooms and halls rather than shower rooms or anywhere it might be splashed.

The shades are glass, given a smoke tint that darkens the tone without hiding the lamp inside, and the finish is a satin black, low in sheen and forgiving of dust. Construction is double insulated. When it comes to cleaning, wait until the glass is cold, then wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry it off at once; smoke glass shows fingerprints readily and much prefers a light touch to any spray cleaner. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same wall light in satin brass and satin nickel, and there is a flush ceiling fitting in the range if you want the smoke glass overhead as well. Lamps are not included.
