Description

The Coniston is a 60cm-wide crystal chandelier formed as a cascading acorn, with 16 E14 bulb positions arranged across multiple tiers of precision-cut clear crystal droplets hung from an antique brass frame. The tapered acorn shape widens at the top and narrows to a pointed base with a single crystal finial, creating a vertical sweep of light and reflection.

Designed for dining rooms, double-height entrance halls and landing spaces with ceiling heights of 3m or above, the Coniston requires a minimum drop of 1140mm and can extend to 2600mm depending on ceiling height and desired visual impact. The 16 E14 bulbs (sold separately) provide distributed light through and around the crystal tiers, with the crystals acting as refractive elements that scatter light across adjacent walls and ceilings. The adjustable chain and cable run allow the chandelier to be set at the correct height during installation.

The antique brass finish on the frame and ceiling rose carries a warm, slightly aged patina that softens reflections and complements both traditional and transitional interiors. The clear crystals are facet-cut, giving sharper reflections and more pronounced sparkle than moulded acrylic alternatives. At 38.4kg the chandelier requires secure fixing to a reinforced ceiling rose or joist-mounted support capable of handling the combined weight of frame, crystals and chain hardware.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 1140mm means the chandelier works in rooms with ceiling heights of 3m or above. For dining tables the chandelier typically hangs 750-900mm above the table surface, which requires a ceiling height of at least 3.2m once the table height and clearance are factored in. Double-height entrance halls and landings with 4-5m ceilings can use the extended 2600mm drop for greater visual presence.

Is the chandelier dimmable?

Yes, if paired with dimmable E14 bulbs. The chandelier itself has no internal dimming mechanism — dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs chosen and the dimmer switch installed on the lighting circuit. Check that your dimmer is rated for LED if using LED bulbs, as older incandescent dimmers may not work correctly.

What fixing is required for the weight?

At 38.4kg the Coniston requires a reinforced ceiling rose or a mounting plate fixed directly into ceiling joists. Standard plasterboard fixings are not sufficient. If your ceiling cannot support this weight, consult a qualified electrician before purchase to assess whether additional structural support can be added.
