Description

The Comareira is a large multi-drop pendant in a black nickel finish, with 43 slim black cables falling from a round ceiling plate. Each cable ends in a dark metal cylinder holding an integrated LED, dressed with clear faceted pieces of brilliant glass, and together the drops gather into an inverted cone of light. It measures 78cm across and 220cm in overall height, so it belongs beneath a generous ceiling where that drop has room to hang. Each of the 43 lights is rated at 2.1W and gives 220 lumens, and because the LEDs are integrated there are no bulbs to buy or change. Rated IP20, it is made for dry rooms indoors.

We would hang it in a stairwell, a double-height hallway or above a dining table in a room with a high ceiling, where the faceted glass catches the light from every angle as you pass. Because the drops are spread through the whole cone, the light is broken into many small points rather than coming from one bright source, which gives a room a lively, glittering feel after dark. It is also a good answer for an open-plan living space that needs one strong focal point to anchor it.

Three colour temperatures are built in: 2200K for a deep amber glow, 3000K for a warm light and 4000K for a cooler, crisper light. You choose between them at the light itself, and day to day the pendant runs from your wall switch. It is not dimmable, so it suits an ordinary switch rather than a dimmer. The black nickel finish on the steel body has a dark, metallic sheen that sets off the clear glass.
