Description

The Cliffstead is a ceramic table lamp with a curved, handmade base finished in an ocean spray reactive glaze, so each piece varies slightly in tone. It is topped with a 25cm Ripple shade in digitally printed faux linen, gathered and tapered with taped edge detailing. The lamp stands 455mm tall with a 250mm shade and weighs 1.5kg. A single B22 bulb up to 10W sits in a switched aged brass lamp holder, and it works with B22 LED bulbs.

Scaled to suit bedrooms and living rooms, the Cliffstead works on a bedside table, sideboard or console where its rounded base and fabric shade give a soft, warm light. The reactive glaze means no two bases are quite identical, so it brings a hand-made quality to a room. The switched holder on the base lets you operate it directly using the braided flex to the plug, without needing a switch on the wall.

The base is hand-made ceramic on an aged brass plated stem, with a switched B22 metal lamp holder and a silver grey braided flex. The Ripple shade comes in marlin blue or coral pink, each a gathered, tapered fabric shade with taped edge detailing. As a Class 1 earthed fitting rated IP20, it is made for dry indoor rooms and must be connected to the mains earth. Dust the shade with a soft dry brush, and wipe the ceramic base with a soft, barely damp cloth, then dry it. Because the glaze is reactive, small variations in colour are part of the finish rather than a fault, and give each lamp its own character.
