Description
A tinted glass globe on an E27 cap, 80mm across, that reads as a soft grey sphere when switched off and glows gently once powered. It draws 6.5W and gives 806 lumens at 4000K, a cool white that keeps whites clean and detail crisp rather than yellowing a room. The smoke runs through the glass, so the view into the lamp stays subdued and there is no harsh bright point to catch the eye. It dims on a compatible dimmer, which is worth having where a globe this open is on show.
We would use it in a pendant with no shade, a cluster of drops over an island, or an open cage fitting where the lamp itself is the thing you see. It suits kitchens, halls and stairwells, and works well in a home office or workshop corner where cooler light helps you see what you are doing. Anywhere the lamp sits at eye level, the tinted glass takes the sting out of looking straight at it. Fit it in dry rooms indoors; damp spaces and outdoor fittings need lamps rated for the job. A dimmer switch is not supplied with the lamp.
The body is glass with a smoked tint, finished so the tone stays even across the curve, and the cap is a standard screw fitting that drops into any E27 holder. To clean, turn the power off at the switch and let the glass come down to room temperature before you touch it, then wipe the sphere with a dry lint free cloth; sprays and damp cloths do the tint no favours. If you are running several in a row, we would keep them all to the same size and tone so the line looks deliberate rather than mixed. Pair it with brass or blackened metal fittings and the grey glass settles in nicely.

Frequently Asked
What size is this lamp?
It measures 80mm in diameter and 111mm in overall height, so it reads as a neat globe rather than a large decorative sphere.
How bright is it, and what does it replace?
It gives 806 lumens from 6.5W, which is comparable to the output people expect from an older 60W incandescent lamp.
Is the light warm or cool?
It is 4000K cool white, a neutral to cool tone. If you want a softer, yellower light, look for something nearer 2700K instead.
Will it work on my dimmer?
It is dimmable, but it needs a dimmer suitable for LED lamps. Older resistive dimmers made for filament lamps can cause flicker or buzz, and no dimmer is included.
How long should it last?
It is rated for around 25,000 hours of use, so in a typical hallway or kitchen fitting that is many years of service.
Does the smoked glass cut the brightness?
The tint softens the view of the lamp itself and the quoted 806 lumens is the figure for the finished lamp, so what you see on the specification is what you get.
