Description

A round opal white LED lamp in the classic bulb silhouette, sized to be seen rather than tucked away behind a shade. It runs at 4W and gives a warm 2700K light, the low honey-toned white that suits evening rooms, with 320 lumens spread evenly all round. The opal surface softens the light behind it, so what you see is a lit ball rather than a bright point, with no hard glare when it catches you at eye level. The cap is E27, the larger of the two screw fittings.

We reach for a lamp like this in open fittings, where the shade is a cage, a hoop or simply a cord drop and there is nowhere for the light source to hide. It looks right in a run of pendants over a dining table, in a hallway pendant, or standing in a table lamp with a bare frame. It dims, though it wants a dimmer made for LED loads if you want it to run smoothly down to the quiet end of the scale, and that dimmer is bought separately; ask us and we will suggest a match. Keep it to indoor fittings on the usual household supply.

The finish is opal white across the whole body, so it looks of a piece whether the lamp is lit or sitting cold in a holder. Dusting is quick: switch off at the wall, allow it a moment, then run a dry cloth over the surface and leave sprays and polishes out of it. It carries a three year warranty. We think it looks best in a group at staggered heights over a table, or alone in a plain holder where the shape does all the work.
