Description

Clara puts two lights on one backplate: a full-size E27 lamp holder for a shade of your choosing, and a small integral LED reading light set below it. A dual rocker switch on the body works each one separately, so the main light can be off while the reading light stays on. The reading light throws around 270 lumens of warm white, enough to read by without waking whoever is beside you, and a USB-C socket sits alongside for charging a phone overnight.

We reach for this one either side of a bed where the table is too small for a lamp, or in a guest room where a single fitting needs to do the work of two. It suits a reading chair in a quiet corner just as well. The E27 holder accepts a lamp of up to 20W, with the right choice depending on the shade you pair with it, and at 17cm wide the fitting stays modest against a headboard.

The antique brass finish has the warmer, slightly softened tone of aged metalwork, and sits happily with linen shades, walnut and painted timber. It is double insulated, and meant for dry rooms indoors rather than bathrooms or anywhere open to the weather. Keep it looking well by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and leaving polishes and sprays alone, since they will lift the aged tone. We stock the same fitting in brass gold, satin black, polished chrome, matt bronze and satin nickel, and there is a frame-only version if you want the switched wall lamp without the reading light or the USB socket. It carries a three year warranty. The E27 lamp and shade are not included.
