Description

A wall light and a reading light on one backplate: an E27 lampholder that takes a shade of your choosing, and a slim 3W LED reading light below it running at a warm 3000K. Each has its own rocker on the switch plate, so the shade can be lit on its own, the reading light on its own, or both together. A USB-C charging socket sits alongside them, and the finish is satin black throughout. At 17cm wide it stays tight to the wall. The shade and the lamp are not included; see our lamp shades.

Bedheads are the obvious home for it. The shade spreads soft light into the room while the reading LED puts a closer pool of light on the page, so one side of the bed can read while the other sleeps. It suits guest rooms, box rooms and loft bedrooms where a table lamp would eat the whole surface, and the charging socket means a phone can sit by the pillow overnight without reaching for the socket behind the bed. We would fit a pair, one each side of a double, and choose small drum shades to keep the projection modest.

The satin black is quiet rather than shiny, and it reads well against painted plaster, panelling or a papered chimney breast. Wiping it over with a dry cloth every so often, power off, is all the upkeep it asks; nothing abrasive on the finish. The reading LED is not dimmable, and the fitting is meant for dry rooms indoors rather than bathroom zones or covered porches. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the same fitting in antique brass, brass gold, polished chrome, matt bronze and satin nickel, and the range also runs to a frame-only wall lamp for rooms that need the shade but not the reading light.
