Description

The Citronic SMH50 is a suspension shock mount built to hold recording microphones with a body diameter between 48mm and 54mm. It grips the mic in a sprung cradle so the capsule sits away from the stand, which helps keep handling noise, footsteps and desk knocks out of your recordings. If you have ever picked up a low thump on a take because someone bumped the stand, this is the part that reduces that problem.

It fits a standard 5/8" thread, so it works with most mic stands and boom arms straight away. The pivot is angle adjustable, letting you set the mic position for seated vocals, spoken word or instrument capture without having to reposition the whole stand. The metal build holds its shape under the weight of larger studio microphones and keeps the cradle tension steady over time.

A shock mount, sometimes called a spider mount, is a simple bit of kit that makes a clear difference to clean audio work. The SMH50 suits home studios, podcast setups and small recording rooms where you want to isolate the mic from vibration travelling up the stand. Check your microphone diameter falls within the 48-54mm range before ordering, and pair it with a standard threaded stand for a straightforward fit.

Frequently Asked

What microphone sizes does the SMH50 fit?

It holds microphones with a body diameter of 48mm to 54mm. Measure the widest part of your mic body before ordering to confirm it sits within that range.

What thread does it use?

It uses a standard 5/8" thread, which matches most mic stands and boom arms. You may need an adapter for stands using a 3/8" thread.

Can I adjust the angle of the microphone?

Yes. The pivot is angle adjustable, so you can set the mic position to suit seated vocals, spoken word or instrument recording.

What does a shock mount actually do?

It suspends the microphone in a sprung cradle to isolate it from vibration and physical knocks travelling through the stand, reducing unwanted low-frequency noise in your recordings.

Is it made from metal?

Yes, the mount is metal, which holds tension and shape when supporting heavier studio microphones.
