Description

This Citronic S3J-XM050 is a short balanced audio lead that connects a 3.5mm TRS jack plug to a male XLR connector. At 0.5m it suits tight setups where you need to link a source with a 3.5mm output, such as a laptop, phone or mixer, to gear that takes a male XLR input. The balanced TRS wiring helps keep noise and interference down over the run, which is useful in busy audio environments.

We have built the lead to hold up to regular use. The male XLR is a pro quality die-cast connector, and the 3.5mm jack is a balanced TRS type. Inside, the 6mm cable carries pure copper conductors with cotton reinforcement, and the connections are machine soldered for consistency. The rubberised jacket is soft to grip and resists tangling, so the lead coils away neatly between jobs.

The pin-out follows a standard balanced arrangement: 1 to sleeve, 2 to tip and 3 to ring. Each conductor is 20 strands of 0.1mm pure copper, giving a good balance of flexibility and signal quality. Note that a 3.5mm jack is sometimes called a mini jack or 1/8-inch jack in the US, and a lead is often referred to as a cable. Whichever term you use, this short version keeps things tidy for desktop, stage or studio work where a compact connection is all you need.
