Description

The Citronic MP3-XLR is a 1.5m audio lead that connects a 3.5mm stereo jack plug to a male XLR connector. It's made for getting sound out of an mp3 player, smartphone, tablet or laptop and into a mixer or active speaker. The left and right signals are summed to mono, so you get a single balanced-friendly output from your device's headphone socket.

We've built this lead for regular use. It uses pure copper conductors with cotton reinforcement, a shielded design to keep interference down, and machine-soldered connections for consistency. The XLR male end is a die-cast connector, and the jacket is a soft-grip, rubberised finish that resists tangling. The cable measures 3.5mm in diameter, with a centre conductor of 10 x 0.1mm copper and shielding of 28 x 0.1mm copper.

This is a straightforward way to plug a portable device or laptop into PA and audio gear that takes XLR input. The 3.5mm jack (sometimes called a 1/8-inch or mini jack in the US) fits standard headphone outputs, and the male XLR suits most powered speakers and mixer channels. At 1.5m it's a handy length for a stage or desk without leaving too much slack to manage.
