Description

This is a shielded audio lead from Citronic that takes a 3.5mm stereo TRS jack plug at one end and splits it to two female XLR connectors at the other. It measures 1m in length, which suits short runs between a phone, laptop or mixer output and a pair of powered speakers or a stereo input. The 3.5mm jack (sometimes called a mini-jack) carries a balanced signal, and the twin XLR connectors are die-cast for a solid, long-lasting fit.

The cable itself is built for regular use. It uses pure copper conductors with cotton reinforcement inside a soft-grip, rubberised jacket that resists tangling and coils away neatly. The outer diameter is 6mm, giving a good balance of flexibility and strength. Connections are machine-soldered, which helps keep the signal clean and reduces the chance of a joint failing over time. Full shielding cuts down on interference, so you get a steady, quiet feed even in busy setups.

You would reach for this lead when connecting a stereo source with a 3.5mm output to gear that expects XLR inputs, such as active PA speakers, a DI setup or a mixing desk. It is a common need for DJs, small venues and home studios. Because both XLR ends are female (XLRF), it plugs straight into the male XLR inputs found on most professional audio equipment. The 1m length keeps things tidy where the source and the receiving unit sit close together.
