Description
The Chord XU4-H is a four-channel UHF wireless microphone system built around a compact half-width 1U rack receiver and four handheld microphone transmitters. It's aimed at vocalists, presenters and instructors who need reliable wireless operation without a complicated setup. The receiver uses a true diversity design with dual antennas (aerials) and internal distribution, which helps minimise dropouts across the working range of up to 60 metres.
Carrier frequencies are arranged in 10 groups of 9 selectable UHF channels, covering both the UK/EU licence-free band and the PMSE licensed duplex gap, at 823-832 and 863-865MHz. The front panel gives you a volume control and indicator LEDs for each channel, plus a colour TFT display showing levels and letting you set frequencies and backlight colours. Each handheld transmitter has its own LCD showing frequency and battery status, with a backlight you can set to one of 6 colours so each channel is easy to identify. Settings sync from the receiver to the transmitters by infrared, so pairing is quick.
Connections on the receiver include 1, 2 or 4 XLR outputs depending on the version, along with a single 6.3mm mix output for feeding a mixer or amplifier. Each transmitter runs on 2 x AA batteries, and antenna connection is via 2 x BNC. The set ships with hardware for mounting into a 1U rack space, along with extension cables so you can front-mount the antennas if that suits your rack layout. The receiver measures 205 x 205 x 44mm and weighs 755g, keeping the footprint manageable for smaller setups and mobile use.
