Description
The Chord XU4-C is a four-channel UHF wireless microphone system built for vocalists, presenters and instructors who need reliable operation without a complicated setup. It comes as a combo package with two handheld microphones and two bodypack transmitters, the latter supplied with neckband and lavalier (lapel) mic options. The receiver is a compact half-width 1U rack unit, so it fits neatly alongside other gear or sits happily on a desk.
Reception is handled by a true diversity design with dual antennas (aerials) and internal distribution, which keeps dropouts to a minimum across the working area. You get 10 groups of 9 selectable UHF carrier frequencies, covering both the UK/EU licence-free band and the PMSE licensed duplex gap, giving you room to work in busy RF environments. Wireless range runs up to 60m. A colour TFT display shows level indications for each channel plus the settings menu, and you can set a backlight colour per channel to tell them apart at a glance. Setting up transmitters is quick too, as the receiver syncs settings over infrared.
On the back you'll find flexible outputs: individual XLR outputs for each channel plus a single 6.3mm mix output, so you can feed a mixer or a simpler setup. Each transmitter has its own LCD showing frequency and battery status, running on 2 x AA batteries, with a choice of 6 backlight colours for identification. The system ships with rack-mounting hardware and extension cables so you can front-mount the antennas. It's a straightforward, well-featured package for anyone who wants dependable wireless audio in a compact form.
