Description

The Chord XU1-B is a single-channel UHF wireless microphone system built around a compact half-width 1U rack receiver and a bodypack transmitter. The bodypack works with a neckband or lavalier (lapel) microphone, making it a good fit for presenters, instructors and vocalists who need to keep their hands free. It uses a true diversity design with dual antennas and internal distribution, which helps keep reception steady and cuts down on dropouts as you move around the room.

The receiver gives you plenty of control from the front panel. There is a volume knob and a set of indicator LEDs, plus a colour TFT display that shows signal levels and lets you set channel frequencies and backlight colours. You get a choice of 10 groups with 9 selectable UHF carrier frequencies in each, covering both the UK and EU licence-free UHF band and the PMSE licensed duplex gap. The transmitter has its own LCD display for frequency and battery status, with a backlight you can set to one of six colours so each channel is easy to identify.

Setup is kept simple. Settings sync from the receiver to the transmitter over infrared, so you can match frequencies without fiddling through menus by hand. Outputs run through XLR, and the set ships with rack-mount hardware and extension cables so you can front-mount the antennas (aerials) when the receiver sits in a rack. The bodypack runs on 2 x AA batteries and offers a working range of up to 60m. It is a practical choice for anyone who wants clear wireless audio in a small, tidy package.
