Description

The Chord SLM-35 is a lavalier tie-clip microphone (also called a lapel mic) built for use with wireless beltpack transmitters. It clips discreetly to a shirt, tie or lapel and keeps the capsule close to the wearer's mouth, which helps with clear speech during presentations, interviews and stage work. The cardioid pickup pattern favours sound from the front, so it holds the voice while cutting down on room noise and off-axis pickup.

Connection is handled by a threaded 3.5mm mono jack, which screws in place to stop the plug working loose during movement. This makes the SLM-35 a good match for Chord, Citronic and QTX beltpack transmitters, and it also works with most laptop microphone inputs if you want to use it wired for recording or video calls. It suits both VHF and UHF systems, so you can pair it with the receiver you already own.

We think this is a straightforward option for anyone who needs hands-free audio without a boom or handheld mic in shot. The small capsule and clip keep the setup tidy on camera, and the wired 3.5mm connection means there is no separate power to manage when you plug it into a transmitter. It covers the day-to-day needs of speakers, teachers, worship venues and content creators who want reliable voice pickup from a compact microphone.
