Description

The Chord MT-50 is a distortion pedal (also called a stompbox) built for metal and hard rock. It delivers a hard hitting distortion effect, giving you high gain when you need heavier tones for high energy playing. If you want your guitar to cut through with plenty of drive and aggression, this pedal is aimed squarely at that job.

Three controls handle the sound. Gain sets how much distortion you dial in, from a moderate crunch up to full saturation. Level adjusts the output so you can match the pedal to the rest of your rig. Tone shapes the amount of grit and bite, letting you accentuate the guitar sound and sharpen the top end when a track calls for it. The layout keeps things simple, so you can find a usable setting quickly and get on with playing.

Power comes from a 9V battery (a PP3 is included) or an optional DC adaptor, so you can run it however suits your setup. The housing is aluminium with a rubber base to keep it steady on the floor during use. It measures 115 x 68 x 47mm and weighs 275g, small enough to sit alongside other pedals on a board without taking up much room. It's a straightforward choice if you're after solid distortion at a sensible price.
