Description

The Chord GB-50 is an active gain boost pedal that lifts the level of your guitar signal. It gives you more headroom to push the front end of your amp harder, so you can drive the input to the point where the amplifier starts to distort in its own natural way. That means you get the true character of your amp rather than a bolted-on effect, which is why so many players reach for a clean boost like this one.

Alongside the boost, the GB-50 has a two-band EQ for tone shaping. The Low and High controls let you thicken up the bottom end or add some bite at the top, while the Level control sets how much boost you send on. Use it as a straight signal booster to push your guitar forward in the mix for a solo, as a way of driving the amp into overdrive, or a combination of both. The housing is aluminium with a rubber base to keep it steady on the floor.

Power comes from a 9V battery (a PP3 is included in the box) or an optional DC adaptor (US: power adapter), so you can set it up to suit your rig. At 115 x 68 x 47mm and 275g it takes up little space on a pedalboard and is easy to slot into an existing chain. It is a simple, honest tool for players who want more level and a bit of tonal control without any fuss.
