Description

The Chord EQ-50 is a 5-band graphic equaliser (equalizer) pedal built for accurate tone shaping across both clean and distorted guitar sounds. Five frequency sliders sit at 100Hz, 300Hz, 1kHz, 3kHz and 5kHz, with a sixth slider handling master volume. That layout gives you a clear, visual way to cut or boost across the frequency range without hunting through menus, so you can hear your changes as you make them.

In practice, the EQ-50 earns its place in a few ways. Placed before your gain stage it works well for mid boosting, tightening up an overdrive and giving it more focus. After the gain stage it lets you scoop the mids to sit heavy riffs back in the mix. On clean signals you can use it to cut harsh frequencies or set up a tone-dependent lead boost that lifts you above the band when you need it. The volume slider means you can add level as part of the same move.

The pedal is housed in an aluminium enclosure with a rubber base to keep it steady on your board or the floor. It runs on a 9V battery, with a PP3 cell included in the box, or you can power it from an optional DC adaptor if you prefer to keep batteries out of your setup. At 115 x 68 x 47mm and 279g it takes up a standard amount of pedalboard space. It is a straightforward, reliable EQ that does its job without fuss.
