Description

The Chord DMH-16 is a mesh drum head sized at 16 inches, built to give you a much quieter playing surface than a standard drum skin. We make it from tensile nylon mesh, which keeps the sound muted while still giving you a natural rebound under the stick. It suits both quiet practice at home and use on electronic kits, where a responsive but low-volume head matters.

Because the mesh is woven rather than solid, most of the acoustic sound is cut right down, so you can play without disturbing the rest of the house or the neighbours. The feel stays close to a real drum head, which helps when you want your practice to carry over to a full acoustic kit later. Fit it to a compatible 16in shell or trigger pad and you have a practical, everyday head for regular playing.

A drum head is also known as a drum skin in some settings, though the term head is the common one across both UK and US usage. This one is designed as a direct option for tom or floor tom positions that take a 16in size. We keep the build simple and hard-wearing so it holds tension well and stays consistent through long practice sessions. If you are setting up an electronic kit or fitting mesh heads across a full set, the DMH-16 covers the larger drum in the range.

What is the mesh made from?
