Description

The Chord DMH-14 is a 14 inch mesh drum head made for quiet practice and for use on electronic kits. In place of a standard drumhead film, it uses a tensile nylon mesh that gives a soft, muted response when struck. That means you can put in the hours without filling the room, which is handy for home practice or shared spaces.

Mesh heads work well on acoustic drums when you want to cut the volume right down, and they are the usual choice for triggering electronic drum modules. The woven mesh takes a stick well and gives you a natural rebound, so your playing feel stays close to a normal head. Fitted at 14 inches, this size suits snare drums and rack toms on most standard kits.

Fitting is the same as any drumhead. Seat the head over the shell, drop the counterhoop (also called the rim) on top and tension the lugs evenly to set the tightness you want. With mesh you can run it looser for more give or tighter for a firmer, more responsive feel, then adjust to taste. It is a simple swap that brings the volume down without a lot of fuss.
