The Chord DHC-13 is a replacement drum head with a coated surface, measuring 13 inches across. We supply these as a straightforward way to refresh the sound and feel of a drum that has seen plenty of use, or to swap out a head that has picked up dents and dead spots over time. The coating gives the surface a slightly textured, matt finish rather than a clear, glossy one.

Coated heads work well as batter heads, which are the ones you strike, sitting on the top of the drum. The coating warms the tone a little and takes some of the ring off compared to a clear head, so you get a rounder sound that suits snares and toms. The textured surface also gives brushes something to grip, which is why coated heads are the usual choice for players who use them.
