Description
The Chord ACT12 is a compact clip-on tuner that switches itself on and off, so there are no buttons to press. Four pressure sensors detect when the tuner is clipped to a surface, such as a guitar headstock, and the tuner activates straight away. Take it off, or leave it idle for five minutes, and it powers down on its own to save the battery.
Tuning is auto chromatic across a range of A0 to C8, with a fixed A4 reference of 440Hz and stability of ±1 cent. The display is a virtual needle type showing the detected note, backed by a three-colour light so you can read your progress at a glance: orange for flat, green for in-tune and red for sharp. A piezo contact pickup reads the vibration through the clip, which means it works well in noisy rooms and picks up more than just the guitar.
It suits guitars and plenty of other instruments, and its small size makes it easy to leave clipped on or tuck into a case. The ACT12 measures 30 x 48 x 40mm and weighs 22g without the battery. Power comes from a single CR2032 cell, which is supplied, running at 3Vdc. For anyone who wants quick, reliable tuning without fiddling with controls, this is a straightforward tool that gets on with the job.

Frequently Asked
How does the auto on/off work?
Four pressure sensors detect when the tuner is clipped to a surface and turn it on. Removing it, or leaving it inactive for five minutes, switches it off automatically.
What do the backlight colours mean?
The three-colour backlight shows orange when the note is flat, green when it is in-tune, and red when it is sharp.
Does it come with a battery?
Yes. A single CR2032 cell is supplied, and the tuner runs at 3Vdc.
What is the tuning range?
The ACT12 tunes chromatically from A0 to C8, with a fixed A4 reference of 440Hz and stability of ±1 cent.
Can I use it on instruments other than guitar?
Yes. It uses a piezo contact pickup that reads vibration through the clip, so it works on guitars and many other instruments.
