Description
Chitose is a small artificial plant with a bushy head of slender, needle-like leaves in mixed shades of green, set in a round, straight-sided pot with a pale, earthy brown finish. It stands 22cm tall and measures 20cm across, which makes it a tabletop size rather than a floor plant: big enough to read as proper greenery, yet small enough to sit beside a lamp, a clock or a short stack of books. It is made from plastic and papier-mâché.
Because it never needs watering, feeding or daylight, it suits the spots where a living plant struggles: a dim hallway shelf, a desk at the back of an office, a bedside table or a bookcase in a north-facing room. We think it is a sensible choice for anyone who travels often, forgets the watering can or simply wants greenery that looks the same in December as it does in June. The soft greens and earthy pot sit happily with pale wood, white walls and grey accents, and it brings a little life to a sideboard or a kitchen dresser without taking much room. It is an indoor piece, best kept inside the house.
Look closely and the leaves vary in tone, with brighter yellow-green tips among the deeper green, which stops the plant looking flat. The pot has a crackled, stone-like texture that gives it a gently weathered character. Papier-mâché is a paper-based material and does not like water, so keep the whole piece dry and away from spills. A soft, dry cloth or brush is all it needs to stay fresh. At 0.28KG it is light enough to move whenever you rearrange a shelf, so it can follow you from room to room.

Frequently Asked
Does the Chitose plant need watering?
No. It is an artificial plant, so it never needs watering, feeding or daylight, and it keeps its green leaves through every season.
How big is the plant?
It stands 22cm tall and measures 20cm across, a tabletop size that suits a shelf, desk, sideboard or bedside table.
Which materials are used?
It is made from plastic and papier-mâché, which keeps it light at just 0.28KG and easy to move between rooms.
Can it go outside or in a bathroom?
No. We recommend keeping it indoors in a dry room, because papier-mâché is a paper-based material that does not like damp or water.
What colours are the plant and pot?
The leaves are mixed shades of green, with lighter yellow-green tips among deeper foliage, and the round pot has a pale, earthy brown finish with a crackled texture.
How do I keep it looking fresh?
Dust the leaves now and then with a soft, dry cloth or brush, and keep the whole piece dry so the papier-mâché stays in good condition.
