Turned from oak, our Chimes Short Pendant Light is a slim wooden cylinder that hangs from a simple cord, and we like how the natural grain of the timber reads against the deep Black Oak colour. Rather than a broad shade, this is a compact form measuring 22cm in height and just 3.4cm in diameter, with a light weight of 0.42kg. It arrives with 3m of black cord and a matching metal canopy, so we have kept the fixings tidy and the look consistent from ceiling to lamp.

The built-in 2W LED panel gives a warm 3000K glow at 120 lumen, which suits close, focused spots where a soft pool of light does the work: above a kitchen island, over a bedside table, or grouped in a row along a run of worktop. The colour rendering sits at CRI 80, and the rated light life runs to 50000 hours, so we expect this pendant light to serve for a very long time before it needs a thought. Do note that it is non-dimmable, so it holds a steady output rather than fading up and down. Assembly takes around two minutes, and a short video walks through each step if it helps.
